One Fan's Opinion 17 Nov 2005 (Comic Book Resources)
The most jarring is when an artist can't or won't alter the drawing to fit their style. I was looking through an Alan Kupperberg issue of "Marvel Two-In-One" and there was one shot, which had been clearly copies from a Gil Kane drawing and it couldn't have been more obvious that he hadn't come up with it on his own (I'd say it stood out like a turd in a punchbowl, but it was pretty much the opposite of that and I'm not sure how much some punch in a turdbowl would stand out).
[Writer and artist Erik Larsen is talking about "swiping" in comics. He defines a "swipe" as an instance when a panel or pose from one comic is seen in another using different characters. One of his examples is the cover of Action Comics #1 and Amazing Spider-Man #306. I own that Amazing Spider-Man issue and remember calling it out against its Action counterpart when I was younger, but like Larsen, I wrote it off as a neat visual. Larsen claims that ethically, "swiping" is wrong, but it is also something cool for readers to see. BK]
