Flowers in December (Time)
While graphic novels have educated, entertained and provoked their audience over the course of their brief history, rarely have they inspired hope. Yet, that is exactly the effect of Carol Tyler's Late Bloomer.
[Link is from Thurston. I would argue that comics and graphic novels reveal hope on a regular basis in its superhero offerings. Superman, for instance, represents hope in humanity as the Last Son of Krypton constantly looking for good within people. Spider-Man is another good example when readers look at Peter Parker's ongoing crucible called life, as he is now, in The Other: Evolve or Die story arc. BK]
